The functionality offered by Paint Express comes in handy if you want to perform one of the following tasks: create a new icon or cursor, edit an existing cursor or icon, edit a BMP graphics file, take a screenshot of your desktop, print images, and more. This SlavaSoft-developed tool is ideally suited for creating top quality icons, cursors, and bitmaps.

Any modern and even older PCs will have no problems meeting the system requirements for running Paint Express: 500Mhz processor or better, 256MB of RAM memory or more, 10MB of free disk space, graphics card capable of 1024x768 resolution, Windows operating system (anything from Windows 95 onward).

The interface is just what you would expect from an application of this type: the project you’re working on is presented front and center, shortcuts for accessing the editing features and functions are presented around it. If you’ve ever used an image editing tool before, you should very quickly get accustomed to the application's interface.

As mentioned above, Paint Express is an image editing tool that puts the emphasis on icons (.ICO), cursors (.CUR), and bitmap (.BMP) graphics files. To better put things in perspective, here are the main features and functions you can expect to get from the Paint Express application: extract icons/cursors/bitmaps from executables, DLLs, and OCX files; load and edit icons/cursors/bitmaps; create new icons, cursors, or bitmaps; capture the whole screen, a window, or a specific region; access various filters and effects; quickly convert images; adjust the color depth; resize and print images.
